Tenacatita is well known as an excellent snorkelling bay as they have a smaller protected bay that is referred to as the Aquarium. This area has coral reefs that run along both edges of it, and coral valleys as you go out a little further. It's a wonderful place to spend a day walking, snorkelling, eating and just plain old relaxing. Different companies offer different things included in their tours, such as stops at La Manzanilla alligator sanctuary, boogie boarding at Boca de Iguanas, or a jungle boat trip through the mangroves in Tenacatita. Most offer equipment rental or use.

There are many good beachfront palapa restaurants in Tenacatita. The Rollo de Mar is a speciality of the area (fish fillet stuffed with shrimp & veggies with an almond sauce poured over it).  Restaurant Lola & Fiesta Mexicana are another two that are well worth visiting. There are lots of different types of birds to see in the area. There are also houses, suites, hotel rooms and bungalows for rent at this beach. At night time we advise you take lots of good bug spray.

The tours to La Huerta generally include transport to and from the town of La Huerta, where a lot of people like to spend the day walking around and browsing the stores for the leather goods that the town is famous for. This year there is a new tour being offered to take you to La Huerta, Villa Purification (historic city), and La Concepcion (historic town) which is where the Petroglyphs are located. Petroglyphs are images created by removing part of a rock surface by pecking and carving, and are often (but not always) associated with prehistoric peoples.

Duration
45 mins travel time each way, and
the tour is a full day trip from 8am - 5:30 pm.

Description
This little community is located approximately 5km north of La Manzanilla. It is made up of campgrounds and a beach with a big alligator thrown in for excitement. The waves and currents make it an ideal place for boogie boarding but you must be careful of the currents in the ocean.
